The saloons and hatchbacks sit well below that, and the newer crossovers between the two.

Strongly for the money involved: Suzukis average about 59% of their value after five years across the models we can measure, which is the same bracket as the mainstream Japanese saloons that cost considerably more new.

A Hyundai or Kia at similar money buys you a larger car with more equipment and a longer warranty. Suzuki answers with lower fuel and repair bills over the years you keep it.

The cars reaching the used market are young and lightly used: median mileage across the 261 Suzukis we have inspected in the Kingdom is 55,000 km. The one finding above the norm is bodywork — 42% show evidence of previous body or panel repair, against 35% for cars of the same age and mileage in this market. On light cars in city traffic that is car-park history rather than accident damage; what matters is how well the panel was refinished, and the report photographs show you. Mechanically there is little to go wrong, and what does is cheap.

Take the Dzire for a saloon boot on a small-car budget, or the Baleno for a hatchback. The Fronx is the best equipped, the Jimny the proper small off-roader, the Ertiga the cheapest seven-seater we sell.
