The EQS is what happens when Mercedes designs a flagship around a battery instead of an engine: a five-metre saloon with a hatchback boot, a wind-cheating profile and, on the Saudi list, three distinct versions from an efficiency-focused rear-drive car to a full AMG. The line has had one facelift, in 2024, which added battery capacity and replaced the smooth nose with a grille.
How much does the Mercedes EQS cost in Saudi Arabia?
The 2026 ladder climbs from SAR 687,000 for the EQS 450+ to SAR 915,000 for the 53 4MATIC+, and each step changes the drivetrain rather than the fittings. The entry car has one motor and the longest range; the middle car adds a second motor; the top car is the AMG. All three are equipped to flagship standard.
Which EQS trim is the one to buy?
The rear-drive 450+, on balance. It travels furthest on a charge, rides the most smoothly and is quiet in a way the faster versions cannot quite match. All-wheel drive is worth having if you regularly drive on sand-dusted or wet roads, and the AMG version is a different proposition altogether — bought for its character rather than for what it adds.
Mercedes EQS or BMW i7?
The EQS is the more efficient and more practical of the two, and its hatchback tailgate is a real advantage over every rival limousine. Interior technology is its other strength. The BMW i7 is the more conventionally imposing car and the better one to be driven in, with a rear cabin that feels more special. The Porsche Taycan is the enthusiast's alternative.
What does an EQS cost to run in Saudi Arabia?
Far less than a petrol flagship. Charging at home costs a fraction of filling a V8 S-Class, and there is no oil, no filters and little brake wear to budget for. What remains is tyres, air suspension and certified electrical work, handled by Juffali Automotive Company from its Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam workshops.
Is a used EQS the better buy?
The case is strong. Flagship saloons lose the most money in their first years and electric ones lose it faster still, yet the car itself is unchanged mechanically. Buy on battery state of health and suspension condition rather than mileage — start from the used EQS listings and have the report read.
