The Chevrolet Tahoe and the GMC Yukon cost less, carry more in the third row and are simpler to fix, but neither rides or steers like the Patrol. Below it, the Patrol Safari is the older live-axle truck for buyers who want a tool.

2020 to 2022 is the sweet spot. The Y62 Patrol launched in 2010 and was reworked substantially for 2020 — new nose, new dashboard, better screens — so 2020 is the line worth being on the right side of, and those cars still sit under a current one.

A little behind the class: a Saudi Patrol keeps about 50% of its value after five years, against roughly 56% for SUVs of the same age and the 51% Nissan averages. The Toyota Land Cruiser is the one that clears it, at about 62%.
