Going by our closed Saudi sales, a 2024 Hyundai Tucson averaged SAR 83,000, a 2023 SAR 73,000, a 2021 SAR 60,000, a 2020 SAR 54,000, a 2019 SAR 44,000 and a 2017 SAR 38,000. The 2019 to 2021 stretch is where the curve flattens. Listings run from SAR 39,900 to SAR 98,000.

2022 onwards if the budget allows, 2019 to 2020 if not. The Tucson changed shape completely for 2022, moving to a new platform with the angular body and the hidden daytime running lights in the grille; the 2016 to 2020 car is rounder, plainer and mechanically well proven. There is no bad year in this range, which is unusual.

The Hyundai Kona costs similar money, is smaller and shows more body repair, at 49% against the 41% expected for Saudi SUVs of the same age and mileage. The Chevrolet Captiva undercuts it but has a much weaker mechanical record — a fault on 24% against 10% expected for its class.
