The 500C is the Fiat 500 with a full-length folding canvas roof — the cheapest open-top car in the Kingdom, and the one member of the family our inspectors find genuinely clean.
What to inspect on a used Fiat 500C
Cycle the roof yourself and read the CarSwitch report alongside it, then move on the right car quickly.
A 2020 Fiat 500C averaged SAR 39,000 in our closed Saudi sales. Live asking prices run from roughly SAR 40,000 for a 2020 up to SAR 52,000 for a 2021, which is small-hatchback money for a convertible.
Longer than the badge's reputation, if it has been garaged. The 500Cs we inspect in Saudi Arabia show a median of around 67,000 km, and no fault category on them runs above what we would expect for convertibles of the same age and mileage in the Kingdom. These are second cars driven gently and stored out of the sun, which is exactly what a canvas roof and a small European engine need. The hatchback Fiat 500, bought as a daily runabout, shows electrical faults at 19% against an expectation of 3% — same car, harder life.
Against its own sibling the choice is simple: the 500C costs a little more, is measurably better cared for, and gives you the roof. The Suzuki Baleno is similar money, returns about 60% and is the rational small car — more space, fewer bills, none of the appeal. The Chevrolet Spark is cheaper still and shows mechanical faults at 34% against an expected 23%.
2019 to 2021 is the range to shop. The shape has been constant since the 500C arrived in 2009, so the useful dividing line is the 2016 interior and electronics update rather than any change to the body or roof mechanism. Later cars within that run have the best-sorted switchgear and the most equipment for very little extra.
Better than its class — about 54% of its value after five years, against roughly 48% for the average used convertible in the Kingdom. Open-top cars at this price are always in demand here, which is what holds that figure up.
