Among 2023 cars a C 200 went for SAR 164,000 and an E 200 SAR 175,000 — the step from compact to executive saloon is smaller than the names suggest. Three years older, in 2020, a C 200 sold at SAR 109,000 and an E 300 at SAR 125,000.

The heavy depreciation happens before the car reaches the used market — Mercedes average about 48% of their value after five years across the models we can measure, which is why a three-year-old one is the value buy of the range.

Take a used BMW if you will do the driving yourself. The Mercedes is the better car to be driven in, and the easier one to service outside the big cities.

For a first Mercedes, the C 200 is the cheapest to buy and to keep. The E 200 and E 300 are one executive saloon with two engines; take the E 300 if you drive between cities. The S 500 is the chauffeur car and the biggest maintenance commitment.
