2019 to 2021, at the end of the run. The CX-3 arrived in 2015 and got its meaningful update in 2018 — better materials, more sound deadening, a stiffer shell — then continued unchanged until the CX-30 replaced it in the early 2020s. Late cars have the improvements and the lowest mileage.
It is one of the strongest small SUVs in the Kingdom — about 70% of its value after five years, against roughly 56% for the segment and 62% across used Mazdas here. The Haval Jolion is nearest at about 65%; the Hyundai Kona is well behind at 58%.
Well past the point most owners sell. The CX-3s we inspect in the Kingdom show a median of about 96,000 km, and nothing recurring turns up against what we would expect for small SUVs of the same age and mileage in Saudi Arabia — not the engine, not the gearbox, not the electrics. Both the naturally aspirated Skyactiv engine and the conventional automatic are undemanding units.
The Kona costs more used and gives you more equipment and a longer warranty, though 49% of the ones we inspect carry prior body or panel repair against the 41% expected for small SUVs of that age and mileage in the Kingdom. The Chevrolet Captiva is priced alongside the Mazda, but 24% show a mechanical fault against 10% expected for that group — the CX-3 is the safer buy at the money.
