Kia's small SUV suits Saudi buyers who want height and a view out without a mid-size fuel bill, and it is one of the cheapest routes into a nearly new SUV in the Kingdom. We have 4 used Sonets listed.
What to check on a used Kia Sonet
Use the CarSwitch inspection report to compare two Sonets of the same year — service history and repair records are what separate them.
About SAR 47,000 buys a 2023 Kia Sonet, going by our closed Saudi sales, and a 2021 averaged SAR 40,000. Current asking prices run from SAR 45000 for an early-2020s car to SAR 53000 for a current-year one.
The Sonets we inspect in Saudi Arabia average around 51,000 km, and not one of the fault categories we grade — body repair, mechanical, electrical or interior — comes out worse than the Kingdom's average for small SUVs of the same age and mileage.
The Hyundai Creta is the direct rival at similar money and gives you more rear space at 14% interior staining against 8% expected for its class. The Geely Coolray is quicker and better equipped for the money, but 18% show a mechanical fault against the 9% we would expect for small SUVs of that age here. For seven seats at a similar price, the Kia Carens is the family answer.
Anything from 2022 onwards, and the 2024 facelift if the newest look matters. The Sonet has run on one platform since it arrived; the 2024 update brought a new front end, lights and a bigger screen rather than new engineering. That makes a 2022 or 2023 car the value buy.
It tracks its class rather than beating it: about 52% of its value after five years, level with the 52% typical of small SUVs in the Kingdom and behind the 55% average across Kia's Saudi range.
