Frequently asked questions

A 2023 Mercedes C200 averaged SAR 164,000 in our closed Saudi sales, a 2022 SAR 140,000, a 2021 SAR 120,000 and a 2020 SAR 109,000. Buying used takes about 22% off the equivalent new car.

Mechanically it is the strong one in its class. Only 8% of the Mercedes C200s we inspect in Saudi Arabia show a fault in the engine, gearbox, suspension or steering, against the 13% we would expect for saloons of the same age and mileage in the Kingdom. Tyres are the exception: 7% arrive with a mismatched or damaged set where 4% is the expectation for that same class — the cheapest line on any report to correct, and a negotiating point.

The Mercedes E300 is the honest concession: a bigger, quieter car for less money, with cleaner bodywork at 34% carrying prior repair against the 48% we would expect for saloons of the same age and mileage here. Take the C200 for running costs and city size. The Lexus ES 250 is similar money and cheaper to own, with mechanical faults on 4%.

2020 to 2022 is the sweet spot, because it straddles the generation change. The W205 ran to 2021, facelifted for 2019 with new screens and a mild-hybrid starter-generator on the 2.0-litre turbo; the W206 arrived for 2022, longer and with the portrait screen. A late W205 is the most car for the money, a W206 the one to keep.

It holds on slightly better than the class it competes in — a Saudi Mercedes C200 keeps about 47% of its value after five years, against roughly 46% for saloons of comparable age.
