Our closed Saudi sales put a 2023 Teramont at an average of SAR 119,000, a 2022 and a 2021 at SAR 93,000 each, and a 2019 at SAR 70,000. Asking prices on our current Saudi listings run from SAR 48,250 for a late-2010s car up to SAR 160,000 for a recent one.
The bodies come through better than the class: 24% of the Volkswagen Teramonts we inspect in Saudi Arabia show evidence of prior body or panel repair, against the 41% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage in the Kingdom, and not one has turned up with mismatched or damaged tyres, against the 4% expected across that group. At a median 80,000 km, the questions are the gearbox and the cooling system, not the paint.
The Hyundai Santa Fe costs less and returns about 55%, but a mechanical fault shows on 33% of them against the 26% expected for SUVs of that age and mileage. The Mazda CX-9 is also cheaper and better to drive, at about 51% retained, though its third row is tighter.
2021 to 2023 is the sweet spot. The 2021 facelift reworked the nose, the dashboard and the driver-assistance systems — the dividing line in this car's life. Before it, a 2019 or 2020 car is the same mechanicals for less.
A little ahead of its class — about 48% of its value after five years, against roughly 46% for SUVs of its size and age. The Toyota Fortuner is in another category at about 65%, and costs more to buy for it.
