The Lexus ES 250 is smaller, cheaper and the most dependable thing here at 4% against 15% expected for the same class. The Genesis G80 is the sensible-sized Genesis.

Know which G90 you are looking at. The first car arrived mid-decade and was heavily restyled towards the end of it, gaining the split-lamp face and a much better cabin. The current car is a clean-sheet design from the early 2020s, with air suspension and a rear seat that feels a class above. If the budget reaches it, take it; if not, a late facelifted first-generation car is the value pick.

It gives up more than the class does, at about 44% of its value after five years against roughly 52% for large sedans of the same age — which is the point, as a used buyer.
