The WRX is a four-door saloon with a turbocharged flat-four, permanent all-wheel drive and, in its cheapest form, a six-speed manual. It exists because Subaru kept building the car everyone else stopped making. The current car arrived at the start of this decade and is the first WRX generation without an STI above it, which makes the top trim the fastest one Subaru sells here.
Is a used WRX the better buy?
If you inspect it properly, clearly yes — the depreciation is steep enough that a used one is substantially cheaper than new. The risk is condition rather than engineering: these cars attract hard use and aftermarket parts, and neither of those shows up in a photograph.

How much does the Subaru WRX cost in Saudi Arabia?
Four 2026 specifications, and the cheapest is the enthusiast's one: SAR 141,200 buys the 2.4T M/T Package with the manual gearbox. From there the range climbs through automatic and tS versions to SAR 198,900 for the 2.4T tS YX Package, which adds adaptive dampers and interior upgrades rather than power.
Which WRX trim is the one to buy?
The manual at the bottom of the range, if you want the car for what it is. Every version shares the 2.4-litre turbocharged boxer and the same all-wheel-drive system, so the money above simply buys comfort and equipment — real improvements, but not faster ones.
Subaru WRX or Honda Civic?
The WRX offers something no rival at this price does: a turbocharged boxer driving all four wheels, with a manual option and genuine pace. The Honda Civic is the more sensible daily car — cheaper to fuel, cheaper to insure and much easier to sell. The Mazda3 has the better cabin of the two alternatives.
What does a WRX cost to run in Saudi Arabia?
Higher than the class, and predictably so. Turbocharged power through four driven wheels means fuel and tyre bills a Civic owner would not recognise, and the oil change interval is not one to stretch. In exchange the mechanicals are conventional and well understood, with no hybrid system or complex electronics to fail later.
Does the WRX hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
Below the wider class — about 45% after five years, against roughly 56% for mainstream Japanese cars here, which reflects how narrow the buyer pool is rather than any weakness in the car. The WRXs reaching CarSwitch for inspection run to a median of around 106,000 km, and the turbocharged boxer holds up to that distance provided oil changes have kept pace. Modification history is the first thing to check on the individual report.
