Seven seats that adults can genuinely use, a boxy body that makes loading easy, and enough underbody engineering to leave the tarmac properly. The Discovery is the practical Land Rover, and in Saudi Arabia it is sold in a single, fully equipped specification. The current Discovery arrived in 2017 and was facelifted in 2020, mostly around the lights and the infotainment.
Work out whether you need all seven seats, then compare the new price with the used Discoverys listed now.
How much does the Land Rover Discovery cost in Saudi Arabia?
One specification, one figure: SAR 398,475 for the Dynamic HSE. There is no trim ladder to work through, which makes this an unusually simple car to price — the 2026 car comes with the 3.0 L six, all-wheel drive and the full equipment list, and everything else is an option box.
Land Rover Discovery or Audi Q7?
The Discovery is the one to buy if the third row is a real requirement rather than an occasional one. It is taller, squarer and easier to load, the rearmost seats take adults, and it is the more capable car the moment the surface changes. The Audi Q7 drives better on the road and has the more modern cabin; the Volvo XC90 is the calmer family option.
What does a Discovery cost to run in Saudi Arabia?
The servicing relationship is the thing to sort out before you buy. Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors covers Riyadh and Jeddah, and on a car with air suspension and a lot of electronics, a workshop that knows the platform is worth more than a cheaper hourly rate. Running costs are this brand's weak point, and the Discovery is not the exception.
Does the Discovery hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
It does not, and that is worth knowing before you sign: about 33% of its value after five years, against roughly 48% for European premium cars here. The cars CarSwitch inspects run a median of around 109,000 km, and distance alone has not been the differentiator — service consistency has. Suspension and electrical history are what separate two apparently identical cars, and only the individual report shows which one you are looking at.
Is a used Discovery the better buy?
For most buyers, yes. A car that keeps around a third of its price after five years is one where the first owner absorbs the expensive part, and the second owner gets the same seven seats and the same hardware. The condition of the suspension and a complete service file are what decide whether that saving is real.
