Nine versions of the Defender are listed in Saudi Arabia, and the ladder is unusually long: the same nameplate covers a working four-cylinder family car and a limited-edition V8 costing nearly three times as much. The nameplate came back in 2020 as a monocoque rather than a ladder frame, and the long 130 body was added two years later.
Is a used Defender the better buy?
It can be, but the market knows what these are worth. Used stock generally sits between SAR 170,000 and SAR 385,000, with a nearly new example typically asking from around SAR 275,000 — close enough to new that the warranty balance becomes the deciding factor rather than the price.
Settle on the body length first, then compare it with the used Defenders listed now.
How much does the Land Rover Defender cost in Saudi Arabia?
The two ends of this range are effectively two different cars. SAR 255,000 puts you in the 110 S, a standard-wheelbase five-seater, while the 2026 list runs up to SAR 722,000 for the 110 Carpathian Edition. The steps in between buy body length and engine, in that order, rather than a longer equipment list.
Which Defender is the one to buy?
The standard 110 body with the entry petrol engine covers what most owners need: five proper seats, a usable boot and the full off-road hardware, which is not reserved for the expensive cars. Move up only for a specific reason — the 130 for its third row, the X-Dynamic cars for the suspension and tyre package, the V8 for its own sake.
Land Rover Defender or Jeep Wrangler?
The Defender wins on the drive between the dunes, which is most of the driving. It is quieter, faster and vastly more comfortable over the long highway distances this country demands, and it carries a family without complaint. The Jeep Wrangler is cheaper to buy and to fix and better in extreme low-speed terrain; the Ford Bronco is the newer answer to the same question.
What does a Defender cost to run in Saudi Arabia?
Servicing is the line to plan for. Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors runs the authorised network from Riyadh and Jeddah, and if you live outside those cities the practical question is how far you are willing to drive for a workshop that knows the air suspension properly. The 3.0 L six is the sensible engine; the V8 changes the fuel bill materially.
Does the Defender hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
Better than the badge's reputation implies — about 55% of its value after five years, against roughly 48% for European premium cars here. The examples CarSwitch inspects run a median of around 55,000 km, so most are still young. Air suspension height faults and the electronics behind the screens are the recurring themes on this generation, and they are exactly what the individual inspection report settles.
