Every AX7 we carry is a current-model-year car, so there is no older generation to weigh against a newer one yet. Buy on condition and dealer paperwork rather than model year.

The Hyundai Tucson costs similar money and posts a mechanical fault rate of 14% against the 18% we would expect for compact SUVs here, plus a dealer network with no such questions attached. The Haval Jolion, also similar money, shows cleaner interiors at 0% against an expected 4% and has a longer used track record in the Kingdom than the AX7 does.

Too early to say from odometers alone — the cars we inspect are sitting at a median of around 10,000 km, essentially new. What matters more at this stage is whether the factory warranty transfers to a second owner and whether Dongfeng's local network can actually supply parts on a reasonable timeline, since that determines the real cost of ownership far more than anything the engine will tell you this early.
