The RX450h is the hybrid RX: a petrol V6 with electric assistance, no plug, and a large fuel saving in exactly the stop-start city driving where a big petrol SUV is at its worst.
What to inspect on a used Lexus RX450h
Read the mechanical and hybrid sections of the CarSwitch inspection report before you make an offer on any RX450h in the Kingdom.
Expect between SAR 162,000 and SAR 190,000 on our current listings, all cars from the turn of the decade. Battery health and service records move a used hybrid's price more than trim does.
The hybrid system is not the risk people assume. 4% of the Lexus RX450hs we inspect in the Kingdom show a mechanical fault in the engine, gearbox, suspension or steering, against the 18% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage in Saudi Arabia, and 21% show evidence of previous body or panel repair against 48% expected for that same group. At a typical 88,000 km, these are among the straightest large SUVs we see.
The Lexus RX350 is the petrol version at similar money and retains 54%, so take it if your driving is mostly open road rather than city. The Lexus GX460 sits below the RX450h in our range, holds 64% and shows mechanical faults in 7% of cars against a 32% expectation for its class — the choice if you need genuine off-road ability.
2020 to 2022 is the pick. This version of the RX ran from 2016, when the creased body and stiffer structure arrived, until 2022, when the fifth-generation RX replaced it with an entirely new hybrid range. A 2020 revision brought the touchscreen within reach, so a late car has the best cabin of the generation.
A shade behind its class — about 51% of its value after five years, against roughly 53% for Saudi SUVs and 56% across Lexus here.
