The BMW 740 is a larger, more powerful saloon from the same era, and our inspections find engine and gearbox faults on it less often than we'd expect for cars of similar age. The Mercedes E300 shows fewer body or panel repairs than typical for the class. Inside the Lexus range, the ES250 is a newer, roomier saloon if you don't need rear-wheel drive.
