Three generations trade in this market: the 997 (2004 to 2012), the 991 (2012 to 2019) and the current 992 (2019 onward). A 991.2 car from 2016 onward is worth seeking out specifically — it carries the turbocharged flat-six that replaced the earlier naturally aspirated unit, sidestepping the bore-scoring concerns tied to some of the 991.1's direct-injection engines.
