Our Kingdom listings ask from SAR 38000 for a car from the last decade to SAR 205000 for a current-year one, and where you land depends far more on age and engine than on the badge on the tailgate. The one distinction to hold onto before you shortlist: the Defender name was reinvented for the current car, which is a monocoque on air springs rather than the old ladder-frame utility — so do not shop it expecting the previous one.
The Defender is the one to buy if you can reach it — the most capable of the range and the best match for how these cars get used in the Kingdom. The Discovery is the family alternative, three rows and a softer ride. The Discovery Sport is the sensible smaller choice with the widest price band to shop across, and the LR4 is more capable than its price suggests, provided the maintenance file is complete.
