Look under the car rather than at the motor. Across the BYDs we have inspected in Saudi Arabia, 25% showed a fault in the engine, gearbox, suspension or steering, against the 10% we would expect for cars of the same age and mileage in the Kingdom — on an electric car that flag is nearly always suspension or bushes, the product of heavy batteries and hard road surfaces. Most are still inside warranty, so the question is whether that work was done and recorded, and the mechanical report answers it. On charging: the public network here is young but strongest in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province, and home or workplace charging makes a full electric BYD simple for city use, while the plug-in models need no charger at all.
